Beatbox Beatdown - Season 2 Championship Game - May 30, 2009 |
|
The season ended in Black Gold Digger style with hip hop and gold chains everywhere. BGD won their first Undefeated Championship.
It was not an easy game in any way, with players from both teams being ejected in the first half. Hard hits and flying skaters left the crowd in awe. Tuf Luv from the BGD and Jessie Jinx from the LP's take a tie in having the most minors of the night with 12 each! Major penalties of the night goes hands down to Razz-berry Rocket. Both teams ended the night with smiles on their face for a game well played.
One unfortunate event that took place with only 2 seconds left on the clock is the sad news of a broken leg. Jessie Jinx took a hard fall at the end of the game and fractured her leg in two places. Our thoughts are with her as she spends the next couple months healing.
Special thanks to Happy Harbor Comics for all the support they have given over the last year.

|
What an awesome event! Everyone from the crowd on the street to the skaters in costume had themselves a fun filled afternoon. Mother nature really pulled out all the stops with a beautiful day and a bunch of sun burnt shoulders.
Teams where really well matched as a win was taken by each throughout the course of the afternoon. You can catch a clip of the game and all the wonderful costumes on our Media page.

E-Ville Dead did their fans proud on this evening. Shutting out Saskatoon Roller Derby in the first two jams. They continued their lead throughout the entire game taking home the win 178-105. Both leagues put their best game forward and gave the crowd a game to cheer about. Saskatoon had the highest point scoring jam with Wilder taking 15 points for her team in the second half. Bonehawk from Saskatoon takes the most majors with 5 in total. Peaches earned herself a new nickname, Penalty Box Peaches as she received 15 minors throughout the game.
Major thanks go out to all who traveled to play and the fans that made the trip to watch. E-Ville Dead thoroughly awaits the rematch in Saskatoon.

Big hair and bell bottoms was the theme of the night. Both teams showing off their disco style as they hit the track. Los Pistolitas came out strong as the Black Gold Diggers did not know what to expect from the new captains Tron and Mary F*ckin Sunshine.
All skaters put their heart into the bout and played hard till the very end. Black Gold Diggers take the win 166-61.

Even though mother nature was not as kind as all the fans that donated, E-Ville came out strong. A sincere Thank-You to all that donated to our Spring Bottle Drive on March 21, 2009. Keep checking our website for the next one!

In November of 2007, E-Ville Roller Derby created the Wild Rose Challenge Cup, the first challenge cup in roller derby history in Canada. E-Ville lost by two points in a lip-biting game to Calgary. In 2008, Oil City challenged and lost to the reigning champions. This spring, E-Ville again fought against Calgary to bring home the Wild Rose. Calgary's Hellion Rebellion dominated the E-Ville Dead through sixty minutes of intense clashes. E-Ville returned to Edmonton without their beloved cup.

Still undefeated, the Black Gold Diggers are leaving a black streak in the red hearts of Los Pistolitas. The stands were packed with 400 rowdy fans screaming for their favourite E-ville team on January 31. The match was brutal, with refs, blockers and jammers skidding into the crowd. The Pistols eventually came up short in the points department--but not the penalty box. The BGDs came out victorious once again with a final score of 163-107. BGDs 2, LPs 0.

That evening E-Ville Roller Derby blew the doors off the Kingsway hanger once again, with this, the second-season opener. The Blackgold Diggers bested the Los Pistolitas, by a final score of 164-140, in a fiery bout. LP and BGD jammers were neck-and-neck the entire first perio, while the Diggers’ big-hitting blockers vied to break the Pistol’s blockades. Mid-way through the second, the BGDs pulled ahead with a substantial lead, as the LP’S jammers twiddled their thumbs in the penalty box. Los Pistolitas raged to close the gap but alas, the buzzer rang too early. BGDs walked away with E-Ville Roller Derby’s coveted league medals, and the first win of the season.
